The Bureau of Indian Standards supports its own encoding standard, established by 1991 ([1]), which provides an 8-bit encoding using escape sequences to announce the language of the following coded character sequence. Modifications were proposed in 1997, but were not adopted. ([2], see "Annex A")

Differences between PDF and actual standard
