The Bureau of Indian Standards supports its own encoding standard, established by 1991 ([1]), which provides an 8-bit encoding using escape sequences to announce the language of the following coded character sequence. Modifications were proposed in 1997, but were not adopted. ([2], see "Annex A")
Differences between PDF and actual standard
The PDF warns:
- The tabulation and Roman transliteration is not identical to the original document due to differences in the typesetting software used earlier. The purpose is to convey the information only and no reference should be made to this soft copy as a standard document. Annex G and H are not included in this soft copy.
